Carpet smells 3 months after steam cleaning?

So recently( back toward the end of July) I steam cleaned my carpets with the Bissell pro heat and I use the Bissell pet odor removal and short story is that it still smells (not to heavy, but kinda stuffy not to bad, smell like carpet cleaner). I think it might be mold under the carpet and I do live in the south. I have used baking soda it goes away, but then comes back about the next day.

When you have a pet, you have to use baking soda or something about 2 times a week.
There might be mode in the padding.

Since it is the carpet that smells and maybe the padding?? Can you remove the carpet and use the floor underneath?

If the underfloor happens to be a wood floor, lucky you. Clean it well with a good wood floor cleaning product and enjoy.
If it is plywood type flooring, large 4×8′ sheets, unfinished, you can always paint that with a good quality floor paint.
It is very easy to do, looks great too.
Behr makes a good product. Water base, low lustre.

Vac the floor and all the cracks around the baseboard well.
Clean the floor with a with a damp rag if necessary. Allow to dry.
Paint around the edges of the room about 3-4" out.
Then start in the corner opposite the exit door and begin rolling the paint on in 3′ sections at a time, working your way out of the room. Allow to dry as can recommends then apply a 2nd coat if necessary.

Oh dear, it sounds to me like it is a mould on the back side of the carpet and there is nothing else than replacing the carpet. You may claim some money from the carpet cleaning company though.
